History & Legacy

The Rochester Carriage House dates back to the mid 1800’s and was a part of the large private agricultural estate of Lysander Woodward and is a tenant’s residence. The Woodward Farm rested on over 425 acres of Northern Rochester land and was attached to Paint Creek in those days. The family mansion itself still stands on Rochester Road today.

Reminiscent of New England with its white frame, shuttered facade and colorful gardens, this picturesque and historic house dates back to 1849 and has recently gone thru four renovations touting a french country flair. Preserved at the estate are the original windows, wood floors, entry door and dining room. Marked features of the property include a built-in outdoor pool, a backyard New England garden, carriage (game) room and basketball court.
